Geneva Int’l Motorshow 2019

This year’s much awaited show has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus. So, check the highlights of the Geneva International Motor Show 2019 from a female point of view on the latest racers fit for domestic use, grand tourers, electric innovations, super cars and concept dreams by car makers such as Ferrari, Maserati, McLaren, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce! Claudia Peifer’s favourite by a mile is the RR Wraith, which she actually ordered in 6 colours (one for every weekday), as well as the Aston Martin Superleggera just for Sundays…only joking…:-)…

Geneva Motor Show 2020

The Corona virus got in the way for this car show, which was planned to be held between the 5 – 15 March. The 90th edition of the 90th Geneva Motor show is normally held at  The Palexpo – a convention centre placed right by the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. With a vast array of mega motor machines to be gawped at, this amazing show ticks all the boxes for all of you motor fanatics!

History

Starting in 1905, the show has been running for over an entire century! Almost all automobile major internal combustion engines models have been showcased over the years – and that’s not all! The show has also had benzene- and steam-powered cars that were used right at the start of the century – perfect for all the historians! Seeing how motors have changed over the last 100 years is truly fascinating at all. We can’t believe how much they’ve changed! How did we get about back then?! Often at the motor show it is exotic supercars that catches everybody’s attention during their debuts – and we’re not surprised! Some things that re traditionally announced at the amazing motor show are:

  • Technical breakouts
  • Prototypes
  • New equipment
  • International partnerships
  • Political and social debates

Due to Switzerland not having its own auto industry, the Geneva International Motor Show acts as a level playing field for all of the world’s top automakers!

What’s new for 2020?

With the digital age rapidly advancing, it only made sense for the show to create an official app! Acting as one of the show’s main innovations this year, the application can be downloaded on all iOS and Android phones – for free of charge! Providing in-depth information regarding the show’s exhibitors and its key elements, the app is a must have for all lovers of the motor show. The app also shows you recommendations on where to stay in Geneva and ways in which you can make the most of your trip.

The app is now available to download on the Apple Store and Google Play.

As well as the new, innovative app, this year’s motor show will be split up into three exciting events:

  • GIMS VIP Day – Inspirational characters and executives from the automotive industry discuss hot topics that look to shape the future of mobility.
  • GIMS Discovery – In hall 7 of Palexpo, there is a unique indoor circuit. Visitors can enjoy a trip round the circuit behind the wheel of an alternative vehicle – be it a hybrid, natural gas, electricity or hydrogen car! A plethora of other attractions make the discovery hall a great meeting place.
  • GIMS Tech – A brilliant opportunity to get an exciting look into the mobility technologies and services for the future!

Tickets are now available to buy for the motor show and we hope to see you there!
