James Bond – Elements 007: join Claudia Peifer on an exclusive tour of this immersive, cinematic show built into a glacier

What’s it Like to Experience 007 Elements in Austria?

Welcome to 007 Elements Austria! That’s right, we took our very own Jane Blonde to the leading Bond experience in Europe, and it left her both shaken and stirred!

First things first… yes, this is a James Bond experience built into an honest-to-goodness mountain.

You’re basically heading straight into a James Bond film set.

Set high above Soelden on the dramatic Gaislachkogel glacier. Safe to say, this isn’t your usual day out. It’s more like stepping inside Bond’s brain… if Bond’s brain came with ice, glass, gadgets, explosions, and very stylish architecture.

So, What’s 007 Elements Actually Like?

Let’s clear this up straight away… 007 Elements is not a museum.

It’s a cinematic James Bond installation carved into a mountain. Part exhibition, part film set, part “how is this even real?”

Built into the glacial landscape above Soelden, the whole experience is designed to pull you inside the world of Bond films – especially Spectre, which was filmed right here.

Soelden Shows Off Before You Go Inside Elements

Getting up here is half the fun. Starting in Soelden, a proper Austrian ski town that knows exactly what it’s doing when it comes to mountains, snow, and sweeping dramatic views.

Then you hop on the Gaislachkogl cable car, and everything starts getting very Bond-like very quickly.

You might even spot a smashed Range Rover from Spectre sitting at the bottom station. Just casually reminding you that yes, despite the serenity of the surroundings, chaos definitely happened here.

What’s it Like At 007 Elements Austria? The rooms (AKA Your Mission Briefing)

The experience is split into a series of rooms, each one taking you deeper into the world of Bond. It’s interactive, cinematic, slightly surreal… and honestly, there’s so much to enjoy in this super-spy dreamscape.

So, let’s walk through it.

007 Elememts

  • The Barrel of a Gun (aka: hello Bond): Become part of one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable images in cinema history, the epic Bond gun barrel
  • The Lobby: Sleek, minimal, slightly mysterious. You’re no longer just in a building, you’re in the start of a mission.
  • The Plaza: Step outside and suddenly you’re face-to-face with the Alps. This is where 007 Elements Soelden really flexes. Huge views and that feeling of being very, very small in a very big landscape.
  • The Lair: Okay, this one is wild. Mirrors, projections, shifting visuals from those iconic Spectre scenes we all love. Claudia called it “spectacular” and honestly… that feels like an understatement.
  • The Briefing Room: This is where things get a bit more behind-the-scenes. You’re guided through how scenes were made, including Spectre’s epic alpine chase sequences.
  • The Tech Lab: This is where Bond becomes less like fantasy, more like engineering awesomeness. Helicopters, gadgets, stunt setups. But no CGI shortcuts. Just a lot of people doing very ambitious things at high altitude.
  • The Action Hall: If you like explosions, stunts, and general chaos… this is your room (and let’s face it, if you like Bond, you like those things). Planes, props, action sequences, it’s basically Bond clout pulled into one room.
  • The Screening Room: Sit back, watch, and suddenly everything you’ve just walked through clicks into place.
  • The Legacy Hall: This is where it all comes together. 60+ years of Bond. All the actors. All the eras. All the evolution.A timely reminder that this isn’t just about one film or location, it’s about a cultural icon that refuses to sit still.
  • The ice Q restaurant: The famous ice Q restaurant is often mistaken for part of the exhibition itself. Mainly because it absolutely looks like a Bond villain HQ with a Michelin-star Wishlist.

So… Where Was Spectre Filmed? Was it Here?

Yes. Right here in Soelden, the glacier, the mountain roads, the cable car, the ice Q building – it all features in Spectre.

But, at this point, we should probably say that Soelden is about more than just Bond. As cool as 007 Elements is, Soelden itself is no side character. It bring huge main character energy with:

  • A complete ski resort
  • A gorgeous glacier playground
  • Summer hiking bases
  • Easy access airport

If you’re wondering, the nearest airport is Innsbruck, with easy access from the UK and European cities (including EasyJet routes, depending on season).
