Cuttin’ Headz x FUSE x LNOE – Day Rave at Tobacco Dock London

#EDM #dayrave
Tobacco Dock in London’s East End was absolutely heaving that Saturday. Brilliant sunshine, we couldn’t believe the glorious weather for this day rave.
People came from far & wide, as this was by far not just a London event. Having bumped into Cassy in Marrakesh the week before, it was mega-cool to hang out with her in the DJ booth on the LONE stage in the venue’s car park. 6000 ravers turned up in London’s East End that day, and forgetting about the sunshine, we all got totally lost in the subterranean vibe happening in the bowels of the building.

Jody Barr was on before her, delivering a blinding set, so when Cassy came on, it was time for some serious EDM girl power. The fierce lady of dance, certainly delivered, so watch the video to join in the fun!

As lovers of all things music and dance, TA-DAH.TV went to Tobacco Dock in September for Cuttin’ Headz’s latest house event – and what better place to go and hang out with such talented artists than London! A day rave dedicated to stomping beats and two-stepping till you drop, we loved spending some time with Jody Barr & Cassy in the ‘Last Night on Earth’ DJ booth.

The Event

It goes without saying that house music sounds even more amazing than normal in the summer – and on Saturday 21st September we had one last opportunity to turn the speakers up a few notches and emotionally wave goodbye to what has been an amazing summer season!
It was a glorious day down in the East End of London and the place was heaving by 5pm! 6000 eager ravers turned up to strut their stuff and have a dance – and we loved every minute of joining in! The Great Gallery had thousands of partiers in awe by the pulsating house beats, accompanied by a light show that would send all house lovers into delirium!
Every summer tells its own unique story in London, full of twists and turns that converge together in perfect synchronisation. Of course, the electronic music scene is what we love best and that’s why we’re so glad that LNOE (Last night on Earth set) hosted their first London party in 2 years!
The finale of summer is always key; to put an exclamation point on yet another remarkable raving season in the English capital. The crew have officially cemented themselves in British raving culture history be ending the summer with their best event yet! And all in the heart of a historic venue: Tobacco Dock
Tobacco Dock

Smack bang in the middle of London’s East End, Tobacco Dock is a Grade I listed warehouse that is, in modern times, used for office space, corporate business meetings and events. Ambitiously restored in 2012, the venue is one of the most famous landmarks in the country. Featuring genius industrial architecture, Tobacco Dock has become an icon of the city’s landscape! However, it has previously had many purposes.

Completed in 1812, Tobacco Dock originally served as a place to store imported tobacco – hence the name! Due to financial issues after the war, the docks were in and out of business. However, in the build-up to the London 2012 Olympics, the venue was used as barracks for the military to provide security for the famous event. That is what makes it so impressive; that it is now home to the best UK raves and events! Can’t imagine, that the military were having a day rave down there though!

Artists

The biggest name, headlining the event, were The Martinez brothers! Raised in the Bronx, New York, brothers Chris and Steve Martinez started DJ’ing from an early age. After years of hard work and implementing their passion, they have become one of the world’s leading house and tech house artists to date. After becoming club residents at DC10, their status as house kings was solidified. They often play B2B with another legend: the incredible Seth Troxler. TA-DAH.TV has bumped into all 3 of them several times before, including another London dance event: the ‘Eastern Electrics’ festival, so check out their shout-out, as well as their European tour dates in the Club Night Diaries of the channel’s MUSIC section.

Here is a list of the other great DJ acts on the day’s set-lists:

Oasis Festival Marrakesh has seen its last edition in 2024

The Oasis Festival is just brilliant: the incredible line-ups for their various stages offer something for absolutely everyone, their designated areas are excellently designed and make sure there’s no overcrowding, and the fact that it is just SO cosmopolitain, makes it massive fun. The whole of Europe seemed to have descended onto the Fellah Hotel complex, with French, Dutch, German and Arabic to be heard every where, never mind English, you really had the feeling that this gig was 100% European. It’s organised extremely well (wifi-zones, meeting points, plenty of food available and cool spaces to have it in) and the way it’s run meant that there were no huge queues to encounter or you’d go hungry because the food stalls had run low, meaning: there was happiness all around you!
Talking line-up and stages, the Oasis stage had the crowds heaving to techno beats, the Mirage stage offered a mix of disco, funk & house and the Bamboo stage sent every raver into oblivion with a healthy mix of house & deep house, peppered with bits of funk, soul and rock – with the forest being lit in all these psychedelic colours, it was quite trippy and the better for it. We hung out with DJ Optimo and Seth Troxler during their set, so needless to say, we had a whale of a time.

Everything You Need to Know About Marrakesh’s Oasis Festival

With there being an abundance of music festivals all across the globe, it would be hard to recommend one particular festival to a friend. There are so many different factors that contribute to a festival being a huge success or a catastrophe: the line-up; the location; the organisation; the other activities to undergo and many more. Usually, festivals tick a few of these boxes but underperform in some departments.

However, that is not the case for Oasis Festival in Morocco, Marrakesh. Located on the outskirts of the city, the festival is set amongst the beautiful view of the Atlas Mountains. Never before has a festival been set somewhere so aesthetically pleasing – whilst boasting a stellar line-up all at the same time! It is no surprise that the festival’s strapline is “Dance Somewhere Different”. Let’s take a look at why Oasis Festival is second to none.

Line-Up

Entering its fifth year since its inception, the festival has its best line-up to date! Having
already had the privilege of the techno king Carl Cox headline the festival previously, it
would have taken something extra special to surpass it. But alas, they have! There is a vast
array of dance music across the weekend, ranging from two-step techno to house music
that you can’t help but pump your fist to.

One act to look forward to in particular is that of Amelie Lens. Having seemingly rose to the
top instantaneously, Amelie has headlined the biggest festivals all over the world. Now it is
time for her to own the Oasis stage. Mixing bass heavy minimal techno with acid and tribal
house, Lens creates a world of her own on the stage. Never before has a DJ been better
suited to performing at Oasis festival. Amelie, we’re ready for you!

The abundance of musical talent continues with the alternative Four Tet. Boasting a
whopping 36-minute single, there will be no shortage of groovy tunes to bounce to. Mixing
a plethora of sub-genres, (particularly alt-rock and jazz) Four Tet’s experimental methods
have allowed him to reach the heights he is currently at. Using the likes of Radiohead, Black
Sabbath and Lana Del Ray in his work, this is a DJ who will make you question what you
thought you knew about music.

With his love for music deriving from listening to funk and soul in his kitchen and touring
with hip hop artists, Loco Dice has become something quite unique. Dice knows what it
means to feel human and portrays this within his live sets. His use of minimal tech house is
jaw-dropping, fascinating audiences of thousands as a result. Due to previously being a
screenwriter, his live sets take you on more of a compelling narrative than any film could.

Other Activities

Food: The array of luscious food and drink on offer highlights the rich, culinary tradition that belongs to Marrakesh.

Squidsoup: The amazing art collection Squidsoup will be lighting up the Oasis stage with their one of a kind, immersive light show.

Secret Garden: The ultimate place to relax at the festival. With Marrakesh cocktail joint Barometre providing tropical drinks!

Travel

If you are looking to travel to Oasis Festival by flight, there are two recommended airports.
The first one, which is the preferable one of the two, is Marrakesh Menora International
Airport. The festival is roughly a 30-minute drive away the airport and there are multiple
travel options available. If this airport doesn’t suit you for whatever reason, the second
most ideal airport is the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. This is situated
around a 3 hour drive away from the festival but is also the busiest airport in Morocco.

You can also travel to the festival 4 days prior and indulge in a bumper surfing and yoga
experience in the bay of Taghazout. On the first day, feel free to make yourself at home in
the hotel with a welcome dinner and slow yoga practice. Then help yourself to 3 days of
surfing on the sunny beach and as much yoga as you’d like. This relaxing experience really is
the perfect preparation for the fun that lies ahead.

So, come on down to the festival that has well and truly put Marrakesh on the music map.
We hope to see you and your friends dancing in the sun very soon.

Banksy – ‘The Art of Protest’ exhibition at La Térmica in Málaga/ Costa del Sol

The mysterious allure of Banksy, one of the world’s most renowned yet enigmatic street artists, has drawn art lovers from around the globe to explore his thought-provoking creations.

This fascination with his work is perfectly captured in the “Banksy Art of Protest Exhibition” hosted at La Térmica in Malaga, Spain.

This ‘unofficial’ exhibition is an immersive experience for anyone intrigued by the intersection of art and activism, offering a rare glimpse into the mind of an artist whose work continues to challenge societal norms and question authority.

But if you didn’t get to check out the exhibition, don’t worry, Claudia Peifer was there for TA-DAH.TV and we’ve all the info you need.

Who is Banksy?

Who, indeed! Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of all time, Banksy’s identity still remains a mystery.

We know he’s from Bristol and that he harbours an obvious discontent for global politics. But that’s pretty much all we know about the person behind the stencils.

Accompanied by his controversial art, immersing the viewer into modern reality, the greatest PR stunt of all time (which is remaining incognito,) resulted in Banksy obtaining a prestige reputation. And honestly, it is fully deserved!

The vibrant colours and innovative methods portrayed in his works lend themselves perfectly to an exhibition of this size – especially one hosted in an old hospital!

Messages from the Banksy exhibition in La Térmica Málaga

What is La Térmica Malaga?

Spanning a massive 13,000m2, La Térmica, (The Thermal) is a beautiful building located in Malaga, Spain. Acting as a social and cultural container, the building boasts a vast array of artistic displays and exhibits.

As well as offering workshops and training, La Térmica displays a plethora of works of performing arts, cinema, fashion, design, music and more! The most recent sensation has been Banksy’s Art of Protest exhibition, offering an insight into the universe of a fascinating artist.

The exhibition contains over 40 pieces of Banksy’s work, including videos, sculptures, installations and even some original pieces. Let’s take a look at a couple of the most famous pieces TA-DAH.TV were able to see!

Claudia heads into La Térmica for the Banksy Art of Protest exhibition

The Banksy Art of Protest Exhibition

In something of a change of pace from our visit to the Cezanne Ey Exhibition at the Tate Modern in London and the Gilbert & George ‘Great Exhibition at Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, The Art of Protest Offers an immersive experience for Banksy fans. And the collection went down a storm with over 60,000 fans flocking through the doors. Those visitor numbers make it La Térmica most popular exhibition to date.

The exhibition features over 40 pieces spanning Banksy’s career, including some of his most iconic images like “Girl with Balloon” and “Flower Thrower.”

Girl with Balloon

Originally painted on Waterloo Bridge in 2002, this mural is regarded as Banksy’s most famous work. The painting shows a young girl reaching for a red, heart-shaped balloon that is flying away.

Since its creation, an abundance of copies of the image have been painted around London – not to mention all the framed copies too! The image became so famous that it was even projected onto the Eiffel Tower and Nelson’s column and even made into an animated vide narrated by Idris Elba and featuring music from Elbow.

In October 2018, a framed copy of the image sold for a whopping £1,042,000 – officially the most valuable work of Banksy’s! After the image was auctioned, the painting shredded itself via a shredder inside the frame.

Yikes! However, the shredding actually made the painting more valuable and it now has a new name – “Love Is in The Bin”.

Kate Moss

Banksy released an Andy Warhol-inspired painting of Kate Moss in 2006. Originally, 50 blue versions were printed of the image, followed by 20 each in a further six colours.

After the painting had gained fame, Banksy surprised Kate Moss by putting the image in her bathroom when she was on her honeymoon. How’s that for romance!

This stunt propelled the image into the limelight, and as a result, multiple copies have sold for 6 figure sums. This image is now regarded as one of Banksy’s most recognisable works – and it comes as no surprise!

The beautiful blend of vibrant colours pays homage to Warhol’s work, as he glorified people who had reached legendary status. By adding Marilyn Monroe’s hair onto the face of Kate Moss, Banksy had cemented his status as an innovative, generation-defining artist.

Claudia checks out the iconic Kate Moss piece.

Banksy in London: The Epicenter of His Work

While the Malaga exhibition offers a comprehensive look at Banksy’s work, it’s impossible to talk about the artist without mentioning his deep connection to London.

The enigmatic street artist has completed works in cities all over the world including Bristol, Liverpool, Hamburg, Paris, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and even the West Bank in Palestine. But the English capital has been the canvas for many of his most famous pieces.

London’s streets, particularly North London, are dotted with Banksy’s works. Often in unexpected or understated locations, some of his more recent works are further proof of this.

7 New Banksy’s in London

With his latest speight of sprays, Banksy has proven that he’s still very much ‘in the game’. But his latest works have taken more of a zoological form.

The new works started to pop up around the English capital at the start of August and each features a different animal.

Piece one featured a goat with tumbling rocks falling underneath it. This popped up on the side of a building in Kew Bridge Next was a mural of two elephants facing each other with outstretched trunks on a building in Chelsea before three monkeys appeared on a bridge in Brick Lane, East London.

Next, the anonymous artist turned his spray can on Peckham in South East London where a howling wolf can now be seen adorning a satellite dish. After the wolf came a depiction of two hungry pelicans stealing the fish from a fish and chip shop sign in North London.

The final pieces saw a large cat added to a billboard and a school of fish added to a City of London police box.

The Malaga Banksy exhibition was a super immersive experience

Fashion Special: Piluca Bayarri Ibiza

Piluca Bayarri: A Beacon of Ibiza’s Unique Fashion Culture

Ibiza, the sun-drenched island known for its vibrant nightlife and stunning beaches, is also a hub for unique fashion that blends bohemian vibes with a touch of luxury.

At the heart of this scene stands Piluca Bayarri, a designer whose exclusive designer jackets and avant-garde prints perfectly capture the free-spirited essence of Ibiza.

Piluca Bayarri has redefined what it means to wear Ibiza, from edgy skull prints to glamorous Halloween-inspired pieces. Let’s dive into her journey, style, and impact on Ibiza fashion.

Who is Piluca Bayarri?

Piluca Bayarri was born in Valencia with a creative spirit and a passion for fashion that would later define her career.

Growing up surrounded by art and culture, she was always drawn to the vibrant energy of creative expression. This passion ultimately led her to pursue a path in fashion design, where she could channel her love for colours, patterns, and textures into something truly unique.

Establishing a Brand in Ibiza

After moving to the White Island from Valencia in 1984, Bayarri didn’t just launch a fashion line; she built a brand that embodies the essence of Ibiza in her own unmistakable way.

Her boutique became a must-visit for tourists and locals alike, offering clothing that blends beach-ready comfort with high fashion. Her ability to adapt to the island’s evolving trends while maintaining her unique style has made her a staple in Ibiza’s fashion industry.

But how has the Ibiza fashion scene morphed over the years? And how has Bayarri had an impact on that.

The Evolution of Ibiza Fashion

Ibiza’s fashion has transformed significantly over the years, evolving from its original hippie-inspired style to the sophisticated boho-chic looks of today.

In the 1960s and 70s, the island was a haven for free-spirited travellers, influencing the laid-back, flowy styles that became synonymous with Ibiza. Over time, local designers like Piluca Bayarri have modernised this aesthetic, blending relaxed silhouettes with high-end touches that appeal to a global audience.

These designers have been crucial in keeping Ibiza’s fashion scene vibrant by pulling it more in line with London street style while preserving its roots and embracing contemporary trends.

Thanks to their efforts, Ibiza has grown into a global fashion hotspot, where the freedom of self-expression remains at the forefront. Piluca Bayarri’s collections are a perfect reflection of this evolution, offering pieces that are both grounded in tradition and open to new influences.

Piluca Bayarri’s Unique Style

At the core of Piluca Bayarri’s style is the celebration of Ibiza’s carefree spirit. Although not as “off the wall” as the styles of Jean-Paul Gaultier, Bayarri’s clothing often features flowing, lightweight materials that are perfect for the island’s warm climate.

Incorporating Traditional and Modern Elements

Piluca skillfully combines the famous culture and antics of the party island with modern fashion trends, creating a style that feels both timeless and current.

Her use of intricate embroidery, fringed braids, super chic studded epaulettes, and bold colours pay homage to her heritage, while contemporary cuts and silhouettes keep her designs fresh and relevant. Meaning these fits look as strong on island residents as they do on the tourists.

Signature Skull Prints and Edgy Designs

Much the same as great designers of the past like Alexander McQueen, one of the standout features of Piluca Bayarri’s collections is her use of skull prints. But she doesn’t just use any cranium.

Many of her designs feature the Calavera skull – the “sugar skull” was made famous by the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico and showcased beautifully by the spectacular scenes in James Bond’s ‘Spectre’ film.

Adding to the spooky vibes of Bayarri’s designs is her use of camouflage prints. The super funky jackets can be bought in either dark or brighter shades, many donning the Calavera skulls. So, even though you’re camouflaged up, there’s no chance of you blending in with these stunning fits.

Celebrity Approval of Piluca Bayarri’s Designs

Piluca Bayarri’s creations have been spotted on a number of celebrities known for their links to high fashion including icons like Naomi Campbell (who currently has an exhibition dedicated to her at the V&A) and Kate Moss.

Bayarri’s status and bold designs have also seen her works adorning the shelves of the trendiest clothing stores in Ibiza like Pois Ibiza, Adlib Ibiza, Ad Libitum and various stores down in the super chic Marina area.

These endorsements have helped to boost her brand’s visibility, making her a sought-after designer for those seeking unique and eye-catching styles.

Celebrities are undoubtedly drawn to Piluca Bayarri’s designs because they offer a perfect blend of luxury and individuality. Each piece feels like a work of art, with intricate details and bold patterns that make a statement.

Keane Live: ’The Way I Feel’ – exclusive pre-tour gig at Pryzm/London

This is the first single released of their new album ‘Cause And Effect’ and it got us all going good and proper! Keane’s sound is instantly recognisable and ’The Way I Feel’ fits the bill and their style completely. It was stunning to hear them live up close and in a very personal way. They were missed thoroughly over the year, and after a few solo albums by Tom Chaplin and Tim Rice-Oxley, to see them all back together again was just fantastic. The gig felt more like a private party, as if someone just hired one of the the UK’s biggest pop-rock bands to provide us all with a bit of a dance that night. Truth is, it was unforgettable experience because it felt so intimate. Watch the vid now to catch the flavour of the night – feel free to rock along!

Keane live: ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ – exclusive pre-tour gig at Pryzm/ London

They’re back together again after 7 years! The atmosphere amongst the few lucky people attending this exclusive gig, promoting their new album ‘Cause And Effect’ at Pryzm club in Kingston/London, was electric. So refreshing to hear Tom Chaplin speak so frank and honest – in return the love in the room for one of Britain’s best pop rock band was undeniable. They played a few selected dates throughout the UK as a sort of warm-up exercise for their new tour in 2020. Little did they know what hit them when they arrived at Pryzm. When they struck the first chords to play ’Somewhere Only We Know’, the crowd went crazy! There wasn’t a single person in the audience, who didn’t know the words to this iconic track and we all literally sang our hearts out to a tune, that was SO familiar and meant so much to every single fan attending…nobody wanted it to finish.
